Pottery Workshop: Honey Pot / Cindy Glad

Granary Arts invites you to participate in a hands-on pottery workshop taught by artist Cindy Glad.

Participants will create a small, lidded, beehive shaped honey pot out of clay using pinch and coil techniques. They will start with a pinched base and add height and shape with coils using the process of scoring and slipping. A pinched lid and cutout for honey dipper will be added. After making their honey pot, participants will choose a glaze color. Instructor will then bisque fire, apply glaze and refire the pieces. They will be available for pickup at a later date. This workshop is primarily designed for teens and adults. This a free workshop, all supplies and materials including a small wooden honey dipper are included.

About the Instructor

Cindy Glad’s journey with clay began in a workshop creating hand-painted European tiles in 2009. She later began taking ceramic classes at Snow College and graduated in 2013 with an Associates of Science. Shortly after, she began teaching community education pottery classes at Utah Valley University and became Chairman of the Pottery Tent at Timpanogos Storytelling Festival in 2021. Cindy has been a member of Clay Arts Utah since 2019 and became President in 2022. After serving one year as head of the organization, she is now chair of the Charity Committee and serves on the Workshops and Markets Committees.

Cindy currently runs a teaching studio in Fairview, Utah and teaches a variety of hand building classes at the Fairview Museum of History and Art where she serves as head of the Artisan Market each July. She loves to create utilitarian pieces like ramen bowls, mugs, maté gourds, and so much more, and frequently sells her creations at different markets and festivals across the state.
